What is Tic Tac Toe?
This is a free browser version of the classic 3×3 grid game: take turns placing X's and O's, and the first player to line up three in a row — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — wins. What makes this edition worth your time is the opposition. Easy plays loose and makes real mistakes, medium punishes carelessness but can be outmaneuvered, and hard runs a full minimax algorithm — it evaluates every possible future of the game before each move, making it mathematically unbeatable. There's also 2-player hotseat, where you and a friend share one screen and alternate turns.

How to play
- Choose your opponent. Pick easy, medium or hard AI — or 2-player mode to face a human on the same device.
- Place your mark. Click or tap any empty square. X traditionally moves first.
- Build toward three in a row. Every move should either advance a line of yours or block a line of theirs — ideally both.
- Block instantly. If your opponent has two in a row with an open third square, that block is your forced move. No exceptions.
- Win, lose or draw, run it back. Games take under a minute — perfect for a best-of-whatever.

Tips & strategy
- 🎯Take the center first. The center square touches four winning lines — more than any other square. If you move first, it's the strongest opening; if your opponent skips it, take it immediately.
- 📐Corners over edges, always. Corners sit on three lines each, edges on only two. A corner opening is the trickiest first move to answer — most casual opponents respond wrong.
- 🍴Win with forks. A fork creates two ways to win at once, and no single block stops both. The classic setup: own two corners with the center or an edge connecting them.
- 🛡️Defuse forks before they exist. If your opponent opens with a corner, answer with the center. If they take two opposite corners, do not take a corner yourself — take an edge, or you'll walk into the standard fork.
- 🤝Against hard mode, play for the draw. Minimax cannot be beaten — perfect play from both sides is always a draw. Treat every drawn game against it as a win, and use it to drill mistake-free play.
- 🪜Train up the ladder. Beat easy consistently, then medium, then hold draws on hard. When you can no longer lose on hard, you have mathematically completed tic tac toe.
- 🧠In hotseat, play the human. People telegraph plans and tunnel-vision on their own lines. Make a loud threat on one side while quietly assembling a fork on the other.
